Helitrax guides are an amazing group of adventurous professionals, and while they dedicate their winters to Colorado and Telluride Helitrax, several of them guide around the world after our season is complete. Perhaps your bucket list extends beyond helicopter skiing in the San Juan Mountains? If so, consider joining one of our guides this spring, here is what they are up to.

Mark Rikkers in Iceland

One trip that is coming up right after the end of our heli season is a six-day helicopter ski/board odyssey to the Troll Peninsula of Northern Iceland. The mountains offer unlimited descents for virtually all ability levels, and the scenery is spectacular. You will stay in an intimate 5-star lodge (12 guests maximum) with unbelievable amenities and service, located in a remote valley surrounded by high peaks. Mark Rikkers, who is one of our lead guides, has been guiding in Iceland the past few springs and raves about it. Many weeks are already booked out, but Mark has limited seats available for the week of April 17-23, 2017 (and he is already booking trips for 2018). Side activities include sea kayaking, arctic surfing, whale watching, snowmobiling, snowcat skiing, Nordic skiing, and relaxing at the fully equipped spa with an in-house masseuse. If you want to learn more about how you could spend a week skiing big peaks and getting picked up by helicopter on the shore of the Arctic Ocean this April, contact Mark directly at mark_rikkers@yahoo.com.

Bill Allen in Alaska

Join Bill Allen in the Chugach Mountains this April 2-8. The plan is to fly by ski plane into the heart of the Chugach Mountain Range near Mount Marcus Baker (the highest peak in the Chugach). From there, a comfortable base camp (glacier clamping) will be set up with a heated dining tent and individual sleeping tents. Spend a week touring, climbing and skiing around camp. This trip is for skiers of all abilities as we will split up into groups of 4 (3 skiers:1 guide) and explore terrain that is appropriate and challenging enough for all. Custom dates are also available. Contact Bill directly if interested at bill@mountaintrip.com.

Angela Hawse in La Grave, France

Join Angela Hawse for an all-women’s Ski Mountaineering Program in La Grave, France. Program dates are April 8-15, 2017. La Grave is a unique, off-piste ski area that is one of the best places in the world to learn ski mountaineering with lift access. This is a great trip for adventurous women that want to take their skiing to the next level in one of the most spectacular settings in the world with IFMGA guides. Contact Angela directly if you are interested in joining, alpinist007@mac.com.

Keith Garvey in the Alps

Join Keith Garvey in the Alps April 11-17 for private hut to hut ski tours. Possible options include the Haute Route, ski touring in La Grave, the Berner Oberland or the Ortler. Alps tours require previous ski touring experience and skiers to be at an advanced to expert ski level. Mountaineering skill sets will be taught along the way (using ice axes and crampons) as touring over steep cols can requires ropes and technical equipment. Get in touch with Keith directly for more information: allmountainadventures247@gmail.com.
