Are you looking for a truly unique ski experience? If yes, consider joining us for our single heli-drop backcountry excursion. It’s truly some of the most dramatic ski terrain available anywhere in the world.

SINGLE HELI-DROP BACKCOUNTRY EXCURSION

$450 per person (up to 4 skiers each day).
These tours feature mostly downhill backcountry skiing but typically include a variety of sidestepping, short uphill traverses, steep gully crossings and more. A broad skill set and attitude for adventure are necessary. We encourage skiers who choose this trip option to be in good physical condition.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR SINGLE HELI-DROP EXCURSION

We start our day at the Helitrax office (located in the Peaks Resort) around 8:00 AM for a safety and beacon briefing followed by a lift into the high alpine. Hopefully you brought a breakfast snack because the views are perfect, and we aren’t in any rush.

Our vertical descent each day depends on the drop off location and averages 4,000 feet. This heli-drop is considered mostly downhill skiing but does require a combination of sidestepping, uphill traverses, narrow trails, icy terrain and more. On any given day, a wide variety of snow conditions may be encountered so bring your sense of adventure! Mother Nature dictates backcountry conditions on a daily basis. Our guides will seek out the best snow conditions possible given what we have. Let's face it, we want to ski good snow too! If you are considering this trip option, we suggest you be in good physical condition and be an expert or advanced skier.

A descent of one of Telluride’s classic valleys will certainly be a memory that sticks with you forever. 360-degree views are just one aspect of the day you will never forget. Areas we can drop into include Bear Creek, Ingram Basin, Bridal Veil Basin and terrain above Trout Lake. We will discuss options with you based on snowpack and conditions prior to your heli-drop day.

Each day we can take a total of four skiers into the backcountry. Regardless of how many are in your group, the cost per person is $450. This is a one drop option only, however there is an opportunity to add vert if your group would like to skin or climb for more skiing. These trips are normally completed within two to four hours. Please note that this is not an introduction to heli-skiing and only advanced-expert skiers in reasonable fitness should consider joining us. These trips are conditions-dependent, and many options exist so give us a call with any questions. We hope you’ll join us for a one-drop backcountry helicopter skiing experience this winter!
